Prior to the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) assured Abuja residents that their lives and property would be secure.
According to the Security Committee, sufficient security measures have been taken to guarantee citizens a pleasant holiday season.
FCTA Director of Information Muhammad Sule released a statement regarding the 9th security meeting conducted on Tuesday in Gwarinpa.
The committee advised the security personnel to increase monitoring around the area in order to prevent any more illegal activity.
Olusade Adesola, the FCT Permanent Secretary, presided over the meeting on behalf of Minister Muhammad Bello.
The authorities applauded the searches on hotspots that netted 1,852 individuals; 542 of them have been charged with crimes.
“The committee commended security agencies for the raid carried out on Dei-Dei Market, where numerous vandalized public facilities.
“The raid further led to the arrest of 43 suspects and recovery of three AK-47. All arrested criminals will be made to face the full wrath of the law”, Sule added.
During the time under study, nine fire incidents occurred. The government warned citizens to handle flammable items carefully since petrol and gasoline stations are required to adhere to product discharge standards.
Residents were encouraged by the FCTA to alert security officials to any unusual activity or person movements.
