In Taraba, there was a riot as the Appeal Court overturned the decision of the Federal High Court.

 Wild celebration broke out in the All Progressives Congress, APC, camp on Thursday as the Appeal Court members overturned the Federal High Court's ruling in favor of Senator Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf. They not only ordered a new primary but also nullified the party's primary that had already declared Bwacha the winner of the governorship primary.

Although it is unclear at this time if Yusuf would challenge today's decision upholding Bwacha as the legitimate APC candidate for governor of the state, several party members who spoke openly about the decision thought the Supreme Court will also find in the candidate's favor.

Thrilled with the decision, the party's leadership said “today’s judgement has further confirmed that we have a  governorship candidate for our political party in Taraba state.”

Speaking via the party's spokesperson, Aaron Artimas, the party leadership said that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and all security personnel who observed the primary had confirmed the results of the governorship primary from each of the 168 wards in the state.

highlighting that “toda being Thursday the court of appeals in Abuja has also equally dismissed the judgement of the Federal Court in Abuja.”

He said that the entity tasked with organizing elections and the security agencies “all agreed that primaries were effectively conducted in Taraba State.”

The party, according to him “heartily welcomed this development” adding that “we congratulate the people of the state for the victory because it lay to rest the rumour of conducting fresh primaries.”

The Artimas urged APC supporters to dismiss the rumor going around that there would be a new primary in the state after going on to say that the Appeal court concurred that because the results were accepted by security personnel and other agencies, there was an APC governorship primary in Taraba.

He urged every party member to work to form a tight alliance and put down their weapons in order to help the party win the upcoming election scheduled for the following year.
