In order to prevent disinformation, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has urged media to cover events with objectivity and balance.
Buni made the request after being recognized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) as the "Most Media-friendly Governor" and participating in a discussion with journalists at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Damaturu.
According to Governor Buni, who referred to journalists as the foundation of every society, his administration holds them in the highest regard and will keep working to create a supportive atmosphere that would allow them to do their vocation with honor.
Additionally, he said that his government would endeavor to ensure that journalists in the state had better welfare and a pleasant working environment.
The governor urged reporters to follow professional ethics when informing the public and to keep looking into other initiatives carried out by this government around the state.
He added asked media in the state to inform the populace about the government's positive policies and programs, such as the successes in the areas of energy, water, markets, healthcare, and education.
In line with his administration's efforts to disseminate information, Governor Buni approved the immediate extension of the transmission hour for the Yobe State Broadcasting Corporation (YBC) to 10pm.
