Osinbajo will meet the president of Vietnam

 To attend high-level bilateral engagements in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) left Abuja on Saturday.

Osinbajo will meet with President Nguyen Xuân Phc of Vietnam, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, senior government officials, and members of the business community, according to a statement from the VP's Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande.

“The VP’s reciprocal visit to the Southeast Asian nation will further strengthen trade and bilateral relations between both countries,” the statement titled, ‘In a high-level visit to Vietnam, Osinbajo to meet President, VP, Prime Minister, others’ added.

Although Nigeria and Vietnam have had diplomatic ties for a long time—since 1976—Osinbajo would be the second senior official from the Nigerian government to travel to Vietnam after former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The Vice President is scheduled to visit the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and Agreements between Nigeria and Vietnam during his visit to the SRV. He will also engage in high-level diplomatic discussions with his Vietnamese counterpart about other crucial topics such as trade, commerce, agriculture, technology, and innovation.

Prof. Osinbajo will also take part in a business forum hosted by the Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce to connect businesspeople from the two nations.
