Sheik AbdulJabar Nasiru Kabara was found guilty of blasphemy against the Prophet of Islam and was given the punishment by hanging by a Kano Senior Magistrate presided over by Justice Ibrahim Sarki Yola.
Sheik AbdulJabar Nasiru Kabara was accused of uttering commonplace comments about the prophet Muhammad, and the magistrate pronounced him guilty of all accusations brought against him by the state administration.
The defendant requested that the court dismiss the lawsuit brought by the Kano State Government against him and direct the state to issue an apology to him in his last written address, which was dated and submitted on September 20.
However, after four witnesses testified, the prosecution's attorney, Mamman Lawan-Yusufari, SAN, ended the case, while the defendant called one witness and offered 24 books and memory cards as proof to support his claims.
The accused identified himself as the only witness.
