During the general election in 2023, according to Jigawa State Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, the opposition parties will realize the distinction between the people's preferred party and disliked parties.
This was said by the governor on Friday while speaking to a sizable gathering in Kaugama Local Government Area. He was responding to the reported vandalism of All Progressives Congress, APC, billboards, and posters by rival political groups.
He said that all of the state's opposition political parties were given an equal playing field by the state's ruling APC.
He said: “It is quite unfortunate, as the party in power, we didn’t abuse anybody, we didn’t destroy any party’s posters and billboard, still some opposition parties are destroying our own.
“Strong party would not involve in any fighting or destruction of opponent’s properties but only shows the differences on election day.”
Further promising that opposition parties will recognize the distinctions between popular parties and hated parties, Badaru made a promise.
He clarified that defacing the APC billboard will not have any negative effects on the party's standing but rather boost the number of its followers.
